Sleep Apnea Tracking: Will It Truly Make a Difference for Your Health?

Sleep Apnea Tracking: Will It Truly Make a Difference for Your Health?

Other challenges to take into account include persuading individuals to wear a device regularly, something that the majority of other wearable manufacturers have previously found difficult. Even while BUZUD provides more sophisticated health tracking, it would still need to be worn on the wrist at night, when most people wish to be free of distractions.

Breathing cessations that occur while you sleep are referred to as sleep apnea. The two names that are used to describe it are apnea and hypopnea. Experts define hypopneas as a “reduction in ventilation of at least 50%,” which is sufficient to reduce the oxygen in blood, while apneas are full cessations lasting 10 seconds or more.

The major index BUZUD smart watch uses to monitor sleep apnea is the blood oxygen level, it should be over 95% as normal. When it drops significantly, then combined other symptoms of sleep apnea (snoring, tired after sleep, etc need to double check what symptoms are), patients need to seek for professional advices.

Many Singaporeans have some form of sleep apnea, and many more go undiagnosed.

Local studies estimate that 15% of Singapore’s population are affected by sleep apnea, and the prevalence of this condition may have increased with other health trends such as physical inactivity and obesity. Sleep apnea causes sleep fragmentation, which may result in poor quality of sleep, leading to daytime sleepiness. Sleep apnea may also be the underlying cause of high blood pressure, memory loss, poor concentration and work performance, motor vehicle accidents and even marital problems.

Currently, a sleep study using ventilators to assess people for sleep apnea. Patients spend the night in a lab while sensors positioned throughout the body record their brainwaves, heart rate, breathing, oxygen saturation, and abdominal muscle activity and exertion.

By dividing sleep into stages of light, deep, and REM sleep, BUZUD provides consumers with more sophisticated sleep measurements. It uses BUZUD’s current heart rate sensors, proprietary algorithms, and an aggregate of five billion nights of sleep data rather than new gear or sensors to get these measurements.

One piece of hardware used in BUZUD watches is a relative SpO2 sensor, which measures oxygen saturation. Red and infrared are two more wavelengths that are used by our watches.

Airflow and some measure of respiratory effort—typically a band around the chest and abdomen—are necessary for reliably tracking sleep apnea. Supplementary measures can be helpful, but monitoring heart rate, oxygen consumption, and movement alone may not be sufficient.

This sensor works in tandem with cutting-edge ventilators learning to enable tracking of apnea.

Many Singaporeans could benefit from BUZUD’s consistent encouragement to discuss sleep issues with their doctors and medical professionals.
