Blood pressure is measured using two numbers:<\/p>\n

Systolic blood pressure<\/span><\/strong> (the first or upper number): Measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats.<\/p>\n

Diastolic blood pressure<\/span><\/strong> (the second or lower number): Measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats.<\/p>\n

For example, if the measurement reads 120 Systolic and 80 Diastolic, the reading would be “120\/80 mmHg”.<\/p>\n
